Joining First UMC Beaumont

Is God calling you to join this congregation?

In every Worship Service at First UMC Beaumont, everyone will be invited to live their life in Christian Discipleship and to become a member of the congregation. What does that mean? It means that when a person becomes a member, they join the whole church in agreeing to walk as Jesus walked, and to practice their faith together along the Way.   If any person makes the choice to live this way, the whole church will receive that person as a fellow Christian Disciple of Jesus Christ.

Membership simply means that individuals make a commitment to participate together in the ministry of the church. Every person who is a member has been baptized and has agreed to support the church with their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

We receive members into our congregation in the following ways:

Profession of Faith

If a person currently has no church home, they would be baptized, if they had not already been baptized, and received into membership. We believe age is not a factor concerning the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. No one is too young or too old to receive God's grace.

Transfer of letter from another United Methodist Church

If a person is currently a member of another United Methodist Church, they may transfer membership to First UMC Beaumont.

Transfer of membership from another Christian church (denomination)

If a person is currently a member of another Christian church, she or he may transfer membership to First UMC Beaumont. Baptism in another church denomination is recognized as fully valid.
